LETS START FROM THE BEGINNING John Taylor, born Nigel John Taylor was born in Birmingham, England on June 20, 1960 to Jack Taylor, a white collar auto worker and Jean Taylor, a school cafeteria cook. John and childhood friend Nick Rhodes started forming Duran Duran in 1978. Later adding Simon, Roger and Andy. Duran Duran recorded albums such as the self titled DURAN DURAN (1981)(Platinum), RIO (1982)(Double Platinum), SEVEN AND THE RAGGED TIGER (1983)(Double Platinum), The Live album ARENA (1984)(Double Platinum). With these Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum albums Duran Duran had become the Greatest Band to ever grace the stage. Later in 1985 John and band member Andy Taylor formed a band of their own with Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson called the Power Station. With this band they recorded a self titled album THE POWER STATION which contained hits such as "Some Like it Hot", "Bang a Gong(Get It On)". In 1986 John rejoined Duran Duran and recorded the album NOTORIOUS (Platinum), BIG THING (1988)(Gold), DECADE (1989) (Platinum), LIBERTY (1990), THE WEDDING ALBUM (1993)(Platinum), THANK YOU (1995).
In 1996 John did a side Project and formed the band Neurotic Outsiders with band members Matt Sorum, Duff McKagen ( Guns and Roses ), and Steve Jones ( Sex Pistols ) In which they made a self titled CD. John left Duran Duran in 1997 (although he is featured on 2 tracks of Durans 1997 MEDAZZALAND) to venture out on his own and start a solo career. Since then he has released a solo CD intitled FEELINGS ARE GOOD AND OTHER LIES and Formed his own band John Taylor/Terroristen. Guitarist Gerry Laffy has been friends with John since he was 21, and first joind John on stage in Stuttgart, Germany 3 years ago. Drummer Larry Aberman has been with the band for a year or two. Saxophonist John Amato is from New York, and keyboardist Tio Banks just joined during the Japan tour. John released another solo CD intitled Meltdown in 1999 ,which contained songs that he recorded in 1992 at his home before Duran Duran's "Wedding Album" was released. John Taylor/ Terroristen have recorded several CDs including The self titled John Taylor/Terroristen 5:30:98, The John Taylor Japan CD and the bonus CD for the Juicey Jeans Promotion, ( read about those in my Discography page ) and toured several places in the US, and in other Countries including Japan and Asia. If you ever have a chance to see them live, do it! You will not be disapointed. These guys are INCREDIBLE! The talent and energy that they posess are none less then AMAZING! Yes, John made a big move going solo, But it was definitely the RIGHT move! Without that move, I feel that we would have never seen ALL the GREATNESS that is JOHN TAYLOR!
